starnet. ZONEにて開催された個展『知覚の扉』のステートメントです。

私はしばしば、現実として目の前にある風景よりも、写真というかたちで立ち現れる世界のほうが、自分の感覚や記憶に遥かに近いと感じる。

そこには視覚を超えた何かが宿っていて、写真の中に写っているのは、ただの景色や人ではなく、その場に漂っていた匂いや空気、情感、あるいはもっと深い、言葉にも意識にも上らない“何か”の気配であるように思える。

私が写真を撮る理由は、まさにその“知覚できない何か”に触れたいからなのだと思う。
それは自分の内面を探るというよりも、もっと大きな、目には見えず、名前も持たない、けれど確かにそこにある未知なる力との出会いのようなものだ。

目の前の光景は一瞬ごとに移ろい、そこにあったはずの何かは次の瞬間には消えていく。
その束の間の存在の中に、私はこれまでの人生と響き合うような何かを見出すことがある。
まるで、通り過ぎてきた時間の断片が、目の前の風景に重なり、ふと“鏡”のように私自身を映し返す瞬間。

写真を撮ることは、そうした瞬間に立ち会い、その場に現れる“知覚できない何か” に導かれてシャッターを切るという行為なのだと思う。
それは、自分の感覚を通してこの世界の奥行きに触れようとすること。
写真という手段を使って、まだ知覚されていない扉の向こう側へ手を伸ばす行為。

私にとっての写真は、そのような、言葉の届かない次元への静かな祈りである。

I often feel that the world revealed through photographs resonates far more deeply with my senses and memories than the landscapes that pass before my eyes in real life.

There is something beyond the visual that dwells within a photograph.
What appears in an image is more than just a scene or a person, it carries the scent that lingered in the air, the atmosphere, the emotional undertones. Perhaps even a deeper, unnamed presence—one that escapes both language and conscious awareness.

I believe the reason I take photographs is to reach for that very unperceivable something.

It’s not so much a journey into my inner self, but more like an encounter with a greater, invisible, nameless force—something unknown, yet undeniably present.

The scenery in front of me shifts from moment to moment.
What once existed fades away in an instant. And within that ﬂeetingness, I sometimes ﬁnd something that echoes the life I’ve lived—as if fragments of the past momentarily align with the present, reﬂecting myself like a mirror held up by time.

To photograph is to be present in those moments—to be led by that unseen something and press the shutter in its presence.
It is an act of reaching into the depths of the world through my senses.
Through photography, I extend a hand beyond the threshold of perception, toward doors we cannot see.

For me, photography is a quiet prayer—an offering to that dimension where words cannot reach.
